6 Day Morocco Tour
Day 1: Tangier ⇢ CHEFCHAOUEN
We take you up from the port or the airport in Tangier and begin the trip via Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, taking in the views of Morocco‘s majestic mountains until we arrive in Chefchaouan, one of the stunning communities at the base of the Rif Mountains. The blue tint of the Chefchaouen medina has made it one of the top Moroccan tourist destinations. It is surrounded by hip art and craft shops, cafes, and restaurants with rooftop patios. Spend the night in Chefchaoun
Day 2: CHEFCHAOUEN ⇢ Meknes ⇢ Fes
After breakfast in the riad, we depart for Volubilis via a number of Rif villages, stop at Volubilis to explore the Roman ruins and learn about Moroccan history in the first century BC, and then continue on to Meknes, a city with a rich heritage from the 17th century, where we will have lunch. The afternoon is the ideal time to see Medina’s historic landmarks, such as Bab el Mansour and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. We travel to Fes city later on to stay the night.
Day 3: FES SIGHTSEEING
Today is for strolling around the narrow streets and alleyways of Morocco’s oldest city. With a knowledgeable guide, we begin our tour by visiting the Royal Palace entrance, the Jewish headquarters, the earliest Mellah ever constructed, as well as the most fascinating sites in Fes. Fes overnight
Day 4: Fes ⇢ Ifrane⇢ Merzouga Desert
Driving to Azrou, where we’ll stop to view the cedar forest—home to the Berber apes—is the next stop on your journey. From there, our journey continues past Midelt, the Ziz valley, and a brief lunch and drink stop in Erfoud before passing through Rissani and arriving in Merzouga. Upon there, we’ll switch out our 44 for camels (optional) and tour Erg Chebbi under the guidance of a knowledgeable camel guide.
We’ll travel for around 90 minutes to get to the campsite, where we’ll watch a stunning sunset over the sand dunes before having dinner cooked over a campfire. We’ll spend this night in the desert, in Berber tents.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Rissani⇢ Dades Gorges
Getting up early will allow us to see the dawn over the dunes before checking into a nearby motel to freshen ourselves. After breakfast, we’ll go to the tallest and narrowest gorge in Morocco, Todra, through Rissani and Tinghir. Following lunch in the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley and take in the local landmark known as “Monkey Toes” as we do so. We’ll spend the night in Dades Valley and get a free meal and breakfast the following morning.
Day 6: Dades Gorges ⇢ Ouarzazate⇢ Marrakech
Driving to Ouarzazate, known as “the African Hollywood,” and Kalaat Mgouna is the next stop on our private tour. We can go to the local movie studio and Kasbah here (Fortress). The next stop will be Ait Ben Haddou, where we will explore the largest Kasbah in all of Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After crossing the High Atlas Mountains, we’ll continue on to Marrakesh, where we’ll spend the night in a classic riad in the old city
